Our 7 Favourite Farm-to-Fork Wildlife Places,
Away from the Crowds, in Kenya

Farm to Fork

A safari with space to breathe — no crowds, just wildlife, forever views, fresh food, and endless fun.

We love nothing more than being on safari with friends and family… the clean air, the endless views, the exciting sightings and the sundowners… fun times!

Did you know that our other passion, our side-hustle, is chemical-free farming, where we grow veggies with the local community, to sell to the wider community? Kaboom 💥!! Throw these two passions together and we get Farm-to-fork tourism… away from the crowds!

Kenya is blessed with a diverse range of weather, soil, and altitudes, resulting in a variety of farming options, from tea and coffee farms to mangoes & papayas, as well as wheat and barley, to dragonfruit and bananas. What Kenya is not spoilt for is beautiful accommodations offering safari and farming in a beautiful marriage of deliciousness! So I’m here to help you with my Secret Seven Favourite Farm-to-Fork places to stay, ordered from most expensive down to most affordable. As usual, please do book your stay through us, it won’t cost you any more than booking direct, maybe even less 🙂

5-6⭐️ – Sirikoi – Lewa, Northern Kenya

OK, it’s not a farm per se, but the fruit and veggies area is way too big to call a garden, so Sirikoi jumps into the ‘Farm’ category for me 🙂. It is simply breathtaking! Elegance and wilderness nestled in the heart of Lewa Conservancy, the lodge is gorgeous (in my opinion) with luxurious tents and cottages overlooking wetlands teeming with wildlife and very friendly giraffes. Its organic farm is incredible, producing fresh vegetables, herbs, and fruit that fuel its exquisite farm-to-table cuisine. Days are filled with thrilling game drives, rhino tracking, horse safaris and cultural visits to Samburu villages. Evenings bring stargazing and gourmet meals by the fire.

  • The rates start at USD875 per adult per night sharing and conservancy fees of USD165.
  • This includes: Full board accommodation, most drinks, game drives, bush walks, bird watching and rhino tracking, bush meals & sundowners, Sirikoi organic garden tour… etc.
  • We love: Not only does it win awards more often than I have hot dinners, it is an incredibly beautiful and comfortable lodge to stay in. The area is wonderful for wildlife viewing and their ‘farm/garden’ is incredible. The owners of Sirikoi were also my first ever bosses and life-long family friends, they taught me much of what I’ve treasured in my tourism work as well as how to farm in an organic fashion… so it and they hold a very special place in my heart.

5⭐️ – The Hildana – Taita bordering Tsavo, South Eastern Kenya

Tucked beneath the Taita Hills, it’s honestly the most ‘value-for-money’ lodge in Kenya, in my opinion 🙂. A beautiful lodge, always warm and balmy, the lawn and swimming pool are shoulder to shoulder with a popular watering hole. Wonderful game walks, game drives in the local conservancy or onto Tsavo East of West. This working sisal farm adds a grounding, authentic charm, where the rhythm of rural life hums gently beneath the luxury. Warm bones, red dust, and golden sunsets.

5⭐️ – Olepangi Farm – Timau Laikipia, Northern Kenya

Nestled in the rural hip of the Laikipia highlands, overlooking the beautiful Ole Naishu. The lodge cottages are full of beautiful antiques, collectors items from around the world and freshly-cut flowers from its cheerful surrounding summer garden. Walks, rural life, horses, lunches al fresco, yoga, milking the cows or from here, you can easily explore the wild elegance of the Lolldaigas, the rugged wilderness of Samburu reserve, the incredible rhino orphanage on Solio or the conservation brilliance of Ol Pejeta.

5⭐️ – Ololo – Nairobi National Park, Kenya

A beautiful owner-hosted organic farm & lodge, perched on the edge of Nairobi National Park. The lodge feels like a warm, elegant farmhouse with either tents or cottages to sleep in (pssst, you’re on the flight-path, so take ear buddies 🙂). A lawn and a pool to while away your non-game drive hours of the day. Its 20-acre regenerative farm is a marvel, producing organic vegetables, mushrooms, pasture-raised poultry, and fresh eggs that feed the delightful “Kitchen at Ololo” and may more kitchens in Kenya! Activities range from game drives in the amazing Nairobi National Park and visits to the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and the Giraffe Centre, to glass-blowing at Kitengela and immersive farm tours.

3-4⭐️ – Sanctuary Farm – Lake Naivasha, Kenya

This working farm is a truly wonderful place to stay. Carpeted in Acacia trees, there is an abundance of wildlife including giraffe, wildebeest, impala, zebra & much more. With pasture-raised, hand-milked dairy cows and sustainable practices that make every bite at their characterful & delicious farm-to-table restaurant taste even better. The shabby chic al fresco restaurant is also home to zebra, wildebeest and other plains game that like the fresh grass around the tables. Scattered around the restaurants are a variety of characterful little B&B’s, each with its own beaming characters. They are also minutes from Crescent Island, Hell’s Gate, Mt Longonot, and Lake Naivasha for boat rides.

3-4⭐️ – The Fig & Olive – Tigoni, bordering Nairobi, Kenya

A charming little bed & breakfast in Tigoni, on a rolling tea plantation. The place is beautiful, incredible interiors, a lovely pool and cosy gardens. Jump in a car and you’ll reach their huge farm-to-fork restaurant and shop. Here you can enjoy all their delicious food and play padel. Or travel a little further to Banana Hill art galleries, some beautiful restaurants in Nairobi or even Nairobi Park for the day?

Fig & Olive 1 Fig & Olive 2 Fig & Olive 3 Fig & Olive 4
  • The rates start at USD85pppns (USD340 per night on exclusive use up to 4 pax).
  • Rate includes: Accommodation only.
  • We love: This is a bit of a cheeky one… there’s not really much game here (apart from the odd critter in the teeny forest nearby) and it’s a B&B, not a lodge… but it’s on a tea plantation and that’s what I grew up on, that’s what I love, so I just have to include this gorgeous little place in my favorite places to stay in Kenya!
